FAQ'S

If you’re considering getting a service done or have already scheduled an appointment, it’s essential to know what to expect after the procedure. I will walk you through everything you need to know about the recovery process, the do’s and don’ts, potential side effects, and much more.

The scalp micropigmentation is a 2-3 session treatment depending on thin your hair is. The first session is to layout the foundation, a touch up 4-6 weeks later is to add density to your scalp. As your skin heals from the initial session, a certain amount of pigment is extracted and hair follicles lighten 20-30%. The touch- up is there to add more hair follicles or darken them up if needed to ensure the results last longer.

• Do not  take Fish oil, Blood thinner or Aspirin 1 week before unless prescribed by a doctor.

• Do not tan. Avoid direct sunlight to avoid burning and peeling of the skin.

• Do not drink alcohol or consume drugs 48 hours before your procedure.

• Do not wear any hair extensions/ piece the week before.

• Please exfoliate and moisturize your scalp 3 days before your appointment

Before your first session, your artist may do a patch test on your skin to make sure you’re not allergic to the pigment ink.

You’ll start by discussing the SMP style with your artist. Then she will clean the area with alcohol wipe and then she’ll colour match with your hair and start the session by applying little dots with a machine to create hair follicles to the hair thinning areas.

After the initial session, you’ll return for a follow-up session in about 4-6 weeks at which the artist will go to add hair density. This is known as the touch-up to perfect the session.

Typically SMP takes two to three sessions to achieve the shade clients want. Client has to wait between 4-6 weeks between each session.

SMP is a semipermanent makeup technique that gives the illusion of hair follicles to your hair loss or thinning hair. SMP lasts somewhere from 2-5 years on average, but it can last up to 6 years or longer it you get a touch-up every 2 years.

SMP would not be described as a painful treatment process but at times may cause mild discomfort to some. The level of any discomfort would be a 3 out of 10 at most.

The majority of our clients report no pain whatsoever and some even fall asleep during treatment. Some describe the feel of a small pin prick on their scalp where as others even say it feels quite nice and relaxing.

During your 2nd session, I will go over your scalp that I had applied during your 1st session to add more hair follicles to extend the longevity.

For all PMU procedures, it will take 2 sessions to complete your desired brows to ensure longevity. Just like when you apply nail polish, you need least 2-3 coats to achieve a solid color.

You can book your 2nd session 4 to 6 weeks after your 1st session.

Please note: If you decide to come back for a second session after 12 weeks of your initial session, this could result in faded concealer which may result in additional charges due to extra work that may be needed. It is highly recommended to schedule your 2nd session appointment within 2 months to avoid extra charges.

If you want to keep your SMP maintained, it is recommended to get a touch up every 2-3 months from your last session.

If you wish not get a touch-up, your SMP will last up to 3 years and they will eventually fade away. Longevity will vary per lifestyle, skin type and age. Scalp micro pigmentation touch-ups are like getting your nail touch-ups, if you go when your tattooed eyeliner first starts fading, you simply have the color filled in. But if you wait longer than your artist recommends, you may need to start the whole a SMP procedure again.
